We all know that all of us (with the exception of USC haters or highly optimistic fans from the other Pac-10 schools) think that USC is going to run the tables. But if they do stumble who do you think can potentially win it. I think only three teams have a shot and thats Oregon State, Cal, and Arizona State and teh only reason i think ASU is because With Rudi Carpenter as their QB and Dennis Erickson as their coach i think they have a shot at doing some damage in the polls. I think OSU because of the obvious reason at look what they did last year and that they are suppose to be this year. Cal i think has the best shot because of the combo of Nate Longshore and DeSean Jackson. I know they lost a heisman candidate in Marshawn Lynch but i think Justin Forsett will do just fine in the RB spot.
So my pick to best challenge USC for the title is Cal

I agree with you about Cal. They showed a very good defense against a quite talented Tennessee team. I'm not a USC hater, but I really think they are overrated. They didn't look sharp last year when they should. I'm not one for running up the score when you are clearly winning, but I didn't think that they put forth their best effort against their opponents last year. They almost reminded me of Georgia...took a vacation against teams they should easily win and then would reappear against a more talented team the next week. I think you need to consistently show a 100% effort to get the high rankings that USC gets, and I just don't see them doing it. Could they run their schedule? Sure. Will they? Maybe...but they at least need to cover their point spreads to keep my vote for #1.

My top teams to take the title... 1. Oklahoma They are looking really good these first few weeks. 2. California It's a long shot but... 3. LSU I think they're better than USC and Crowton is looking good as the new OC 4. Florida Back to back? Possibly. 5. West Virginia I like them 6. Wisconsin They look good in the clutch. They can have all the close games they want as long as they pull it out. 7. USC I had to have them in here somewhere. 8. Boston College Another long shot but I like how they're looking so far. 9. Texas Like Wisconsin, they can play close all they want... as long as they win. 10. Air Force, Wyoming, or Hawaii Hoping, wishing, dreaming... Till BYU beats the first two

As for the Pac 10 title, I don't think any team will be undefeated. I might go a little down the surprise list and pick Oregon. I think Cal has a tough game going to Arizona State that they'll lose, and I think USC will take Cal down too. The Ducks have the mobile quarterback that USC always struggles with, I wouldn't be surprised if Oregon doesn't win out. I don't think they'd make the BCS Championship game if they won out (I'm thinking LSU vs. either an undefeated Ohio State, or a one loss Oklahoma team)
