Well, this is certainly the year of the upset. With no real clear favorite at this point(at least not a dominant one),it is possible that we could have a National Champion with a loss on the record. I think with all the top 10 teams that have lost the last couple of weeks,a lot of teams have rekindled their national championship dreams even though they have suffered a loss. That should help teams stay even more competitive,as we have seen before, teams that enter the season with National title hopes and lose a game..well,sometimes they seem to lose the fire and I have seen teams go completely into a funk for the rest of the season. However, with the undefeated teams dropping like flies the last two or three weeks...many teams who have one loss have rekindled hope and fire and that should make the second half of this season a wild and crazy affair!

I think it's entirely possible that the only two undefeated teams at the end of the year will be LSU and Hawaii. The two dates to circle on the calender for each team would be Hawaii at home against Boise State and Washington, and for LSU- watch that trip to Alabama. I think Alabama is going to win one against their big three opponents (LSU, Tennessee, or Auburn). Also watch the SEC Championship game. The east race is wide open right now, keep an eye out for Tennessee, which might return the favor for the 2001 loss that kept Tennessee out of the BCS title game.

I highly doubt that Hawaii will pull off going undefeated. I mean they should have lost to SJSU last night. LSU may be it. But you also have to look for there conference championship game. With whats going on I wouldnt be surprised if noone ends up undefeated.

Well there are only 5 undefeated teams now... which one falls next? USF, ASU, Ohio St, Hawaii, or BC?
I see USF losing to either Rutgers on Thurs or Cincy in a couple weeks... ASU might lose to Cal in 2 weeks... BC to VT... Ohio St maybe to Michigan?... still leaves me with just Hawaii.
Hawaii struggled last night because the field was a mess which screwed up the timing of their routes. It was also on the mainland and the Warriors tend to struggle outside of the islands.

Ohio State has a task in front of them...their final 5 games are all against teams with winning records. Penn State will be a challenge as it's a road game for the Buckeyes, as is Michigan. I hope they can come out unscathed, but the curse of being number one now scares me for them!
Hawaii I think has probably the best shot at staying undefeated, but their lack of strength of schedule is their biggest enemy, as they very rarely play anyone that's a challenge for them. And for a team that relies solely on their offense, that's a hard team to justify moving up.

i think ohio state is the only team which could finish undefeated and they too i think will get knocked off as well . . . ASU still has to play Cal, Oregon, USC and what should be at the time a decent Arizona squad who played USC very tough . . . Hawaii has been playing with fire all year barely beating La Tech and SJSU is not anything to brag about, I see them losing to Boise State, Fresno or Washington - pretty tough to win with no defense or running game . . . BC is overrated and will drop at least 2 games down the stretch . . . South Florida is intriguing but I see them losing a road game before this thing is over - to their credit they have a great road win and beat WVU soundly -

I agree that USF has been very impressive,I dont know if I would say that they soundly beat WVU,considering the fact that WVU handed them the ball 6 or 7 times and still nearly managed a comeback. I think were they to play each other 10 times..WVU would manage 7 or 8 wins...then again,I am a WVU fan..LOL. Anyway,I think all of you have legitimate claims and gripes. I just saw the BCS poll..man what a crock of ****! I know that I am a WVU fan and that may make me somewhat biased, but no way are there 8 teams better than WVU..no way! Just my opinion...everyone has them I guess. You would think that with all the attention and money that could be made off of a playoff..that the NCAA would come around...there has to be a way to incorporate the bowls into the playoff system. Oh well, enough pregnant doging for today..take care my friends..until next week! Peace.

I predict now that Ohio State loses to Penn State, Arizona State loses to Cal and Boston College loses to Virginia Tech. Also, don't be surprised is USC finds away to beat Oregon. WVU has a tough game at Rutgers and could lose also.

Maybe, but maybe not. Boston College just got through their toughest test with VA Tech and now finish their current 8-0 season with 4 decent and very beatable teams in Florida State, Miami, Maryland, and Clemson. The Eagles could be the ones to do it. I am officialy coming out in the open, I was the one "crazy" to vote BC number 1. GO EAGLES!

I think of the 4 opps left for BC, Clemson will be the biggest task. Maybe Florida State, but doubtful. As far as the rest of the unbeaten, Kansas won't make it up to number 2 even if they win out...same for Hawaii. They just don't have the strength of schedule and to help them. Plus, Kansas would still have to win the Big 12 to hold onto a "perfect" season, and I don't think they have the ability to win against teams like Oklahoma or Texas. I may be wrong, but I just don't see them at that level. Hawaii, same thing...and they have a task with Boise State next week. Arizona State will most likely have their hands full next week with Oregon, plus they still have UCLA and USC. I don't think they can handle all that. And finally, the Buckeyes should have it made until Ann Arbor. I think you could be looking at 1-2 right now with Ohio State and BC. Go BUCKS! :-)
On a side note, I never in a million years would have thought I would be seeing either Ohio State or Kansas without a loss at this point...let alone BOTH of them. Life here is good--for another week!

The undefeateds are getting trimmed down... We have Ohio State, Boston College, Kansas, Arizona State, and Hawaii.
Hawaii- Given the full circumstances, they may actually have the best chance to go undefeated because they don't have any goliath left on the schedule. However, with a pesky Fresno State, a Boise State that's hitting form, and a Washington team that's not exactly a pushover, they'll have to have three non-La Tech/SJSU performances to make it undefeated. The one thing that makes me think it can happen= Those three games are all at home. I think Hawaii has the best chance to go undefeated.
Boston College- The Golden Eagles probably have the next best chance of going undefeated. Their remaining games are winnable, though the opponents have the capability of knocking them off. I agree with an above response, watch out for the clemson game on the road, and maybe even more than that- watch for the (potential) rematch with Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship Game. It's hard to beat any team twice in the same year.
Arizona State- A huge test coming up with a trip to Eugene in a top ten matchup. Arizona State passed their first big home test against Cal, now they have to take the show on the road to Autzen. Dennis Erickson knows how to cause Oregon problems. If the Sun Devils pull it off, the rest of the schedule sets up nicely, with a rivalry home game against Arizona and a visit from a struggling USC team.
Ohio State- Probably the toughest remaining schedule of the 5 unbeatens thus far. A trip to the Big House has the writings of an epic battle, but watch for the trap game against Illinois. Ron Zook has a penchant for nipping a big team that doesn't show up to play their best game, and sandwiched between a visit from Wisconsin and a trip to Ann Arbor, Ohio State has two big reasons to overlook the Illini.
Kansas- Kansas faces their only remaining known big test at home against Missouri, but they dodged a bullet by escaping games against Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech. They won't be so fortunate in the Big 12 title game. Should Kansas manage to beat Missouri, I expect an "exposed" game against Oklahoma.

Kansas isn't technically at "home" against Missouri. Last year, they moved the MU-KU game from Columbia to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Since they took it from the Tigers last year, they have also moved this year's game to Arrowhead as well to "even" them up in terms of travelling. So technically, it's a neutral field, with both sides having fans travel to watch the game. And I don't know the exact figures, but I know each school gets a decent chunk of cash for the increased number of tickets available.
