My top 3 Heisman contenders would have to be Darren McFadden, Colt Brennan, and Brian Brohnm. McFadden is an outstanding running back who seems to get better each year. Colt Brennan is an offensive numbers machine, but a lot of that may also be due to the competition (?) that they are up against. Brian Brohm is just a great all-around leader at Louisville. The team may win games with him not there, but he brings something to the whole team. The offensive seems to charge the defense up, and vice versa, and he's the leader of that.
A secondary set would include P.J. Hill. Booty may be heavily favored, but I still just don't see what the hype is on USC. They have YET to impress me, and seem to get the recognition because they are USC. I feel you better do something to EARN that spot, and then continue to prove that you EARNED it.

Well,a couple weeks into the season and the race has changed quite a bit,in my opinion, from the preseason faves. With Louisville struggling,I think Brohm has went from favorite to 4 or 5th already. I think the duo in West Virginia, while getting some ink,are not getting their just due. The team has pretty much done what was expected yet drops in the polls. Slaton and White take carries, yards and touchdowns from each other. Throw Devine in the mix and you are talking about splitting the load 3 ways, plus with Reynaud and Schmitt also getting in the mix,it really puts a buffer on Slaton and Whites total stats. I wonder if this will effect Heisman voters. I know that they are enamored with stats, but stats do not always tell the story. It is much too early to name favorites and such, but I just wonder if you guys think that having so much talent in the backfield will help or hinder Slaton and Whites chances at the big trophy??

Leinart and Bush both won despite the vote splitting so I think White and Slaton have a shot. Currenlty (after Week 4) it's too close for me to call..... I can say though that some names have fallen off... Brohm, Brennan, and Hart (not really his fault, but his teams).... and some have risen very high... Tebow, Dixon, and Curtis Painter. We gotta see how it continues though as its still early.

I agree that Brohm hasn't nearly lived up to the expectations that people had for him at the beginning of the season. And Michigan's horrendous start to the year probably has cost Hart a shot. A lot will depend on how Michigan handles everyone from here on out in my opinion. I do like how Slaton has been playing, and Tebow is also doing a great job so far. It should be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for those players, like Hart and Brennon, who may have lost some ground since the season's start.

Another name to stir this pot, despite the loss this week, could be Chase Daniels. Brennan was able to pull out a win for Hawaii, but he may still be too far down to come out ahead now. Also, Hart's injury may be something to keep an eye on in case it sidelines him for a game or two.
